Latest on third album and gig news

We\'ve been spending a lot of time over the last month in the studio recording songs for our third album. Hopefully it\'ll be finished some time early in 2010, but these things can\'t be rushed!! Thanks to all those who came to the recent gigs at Chester and Harrogate which were blinding - you got a taste of some of the new material, and the reaction we got was incredible. Seven new songs have been recorded so far and we\'re all very excited, and can\'t wait to get the rest of the album nailed and get it out there!

Because of all the recording activity live shows have been a bit sparse of late. We do have a couple more gigs before the end of the year and we hope you can come along. Whippoorwill in Sheffield is fast getting a great reputation for a fine Americana night - we play there on 5th December http://www.myspace.com/whippoorwillsheffield Then its back to sweet home Telfords Warehouse in Chester on 6th December where we\'ll be hosting an open mic night and headlining the evening with acoustic versions of our tunes new and old and probably some other songs by our favourite artists. If you want to come along and play - get there early! Music starts around 8.30-9pm. www.telfordswarehousechester.com

Farewell to a great year!

The Loving Cup will remember 2008 with particular fondness after achieving goals beyond their wildest dreams. Their hard work and dedication paid off when, after months of gigging and the release of their second album Goofer Dust, they received a phone call out of the blue from producers at BBC Radio 2 asking them to record a live session for Mark Lamarr at the world famous Maida Vale studios. Lamarr had been impressed by a Cup track which featured on a What\'s Cooking compilation CD and, after playing the track on his show, requested to hear more (he also passed the track to Bob Harris who also played it on his show). The opportunity was snapped up and the boys found themselves being the featured artists of the 3 hour show on September 13th. Listen to tracks here

Around the same time, The Loving Cup were asked to open a couple of shows for the now very famous and much-loved Hayseed Dixie in Liverpool and Bristol. These shows were another great success with Hayseed Dixie\'s banjo player Don Wayne Reno joining them onstage for their encore of the Neil Young song \'Ohio\' - Listen here

The band also enjoyed a touch of TV stardom in early December when the Swedish equivalent to \'Wish You Were Here\' attended a show in whilst doing a feature on Manchester and the Swedish equivalent to Judith Chalmers interviewed singer Jaz Livesey about the influence of music in the area. The band were shown in full flow a few times during the show.

The rest of the year consisted of tireless gigging including a support slot with Liverpool favourites The Real People, and endless promotion of the new album which is available to buy on -loving-cup.co.uk/tracks/ohio.mp3\" target=\"_self\">iTunes.

Here\'s hoping 2009 will be even more successful for the band, with a number of irons in the fire already, who knows what it may bring!

Cup feature in Lamarr\'s \'Best of 2008\'

On December 20th 2008, The Loving Cup were played on Mark Lamarr\'s God\'s Jukebox - \'Best of 2008\' show on radio 2. At 2hrs 25mins into the show, he played the song, \'Bring Along Your Lovers\' from the BBC Maida Vale session which was recorded for the show in September. He said the song was, \"one of his personal favourites\" and that the bands\' session was a \"particular highlight!\"

The Loving Cup \'Tiv\' re-birth

The Loving Cup recently supported legendary Liverpool band The Real People at the re-launch of live bands night at The Tivoli Ballroom, Buckley (Thursday December 4th). Guitarist Gareth Catterall commented \"Our generation would frequent \'The Tiv\' week in-week out during the 90\'s to watch some of the biggest bands on the scene, as well as often play there in whatever guise, so it was an honour to return there with The Loving Cup on such an occasion.\"
