\"Fosters Fives\" Trophy

This perpetual trophy was generously donated by Mick Foster and is for annual calendar year competition just for the ladies. Based on Pentathlon Cup points tables, the winner is the lady scoring most points from up to 5 of the nominated 5 miles or 10 kilometre road races. The qualifying races for that calendar year will be selected by the committee and advised in the January newsletter.

The \"Pentathon Cup\"

This perpetual trophy was generously donated by Peter Mander and is for annual calendar year competition and open to all members. It operates similarly to a handicap system with extra time allowances of about 1% for each year over the age of 40. Ladies receive an additional time allowance of about 15%. Those under 40 receive a slightly lower fixed time.

The competition covers all measured road races during the year at the qualifying distances. The best 5 scores a five different distances to count. The highest score wins. Times generally will be taken from official results sheets, but, at the committees discretion, an exception may be made for certain larger races where chip times are not available.

Most Improved Runners

Thanks to a generous donation of a second trophy from Launceston Sports, these are now awarded to both male and female runners who have improved by the greatest amount over the previous year. In order to qualify for this award, members must have undertaken some races in the season prior to the current one, in order to give the committee an opportunity to assess their progress. For example a runner who runs 5 races in one year and then improves on all those times in the following year would be eligible for consideration.

Best Newcomer

A new trophy was introduced for this year, 2007 to reward the efforts of newcomers to the club that had shown great promise in their first season, not just in their race positions but also in their commitment to the club and willingness to promote the club in any way. The committee will decide the winner on those criteria.

Committee Cup

This cup is open to all members within the club, irrespective of whether they race or not. It is decided by the committee, who award it to the member they feel has contributed the most to the club over the previous year. This can be for supporting other runners, partaking of a large number of races, promoting the club, assisting with improving the club experience for others - in fact the list is endless.

Most Unusual (or What were they thinking) Cup

This cup really speaks for itself. Any member of the club tackling something out of the ordinary during the season whether it is subjecting themselves to an event that most people would balk at or maybe running an event in the most bizarre costume, anything will be considered by the committee.

Furthest distance travelled

Awarded to the person considered to have travelled the furthest throughout the year just to show off their Launceston Road Runners club shirt at a race, normally further than the Cornish border...!
